“Christian” Pagan Holidays - Paganism, Part I

Holidays are a time for us to come together. Did you know that the word “holiday” came from the term “holy day1?” Have you ever thought about the names for the days of the week that we have and how we came up with them? Let’s see, for starters there is Sun-day, which has obvious roots in sun worship. What about Monday? The Spanish word for it is Lunes, a reference to the Moon (luna). Martes is the Spanish for Tuesday, and appears to have to do with the Greco-roman god Mars. It’s not the only day that is named after a god, as there is also Saturn-day. Interestingly enough, the Spanish word for Saturday gets it right, and the word Sabado, has the root word of “Shabbat” in it. Taken from a website,

In fact, the Spanish word for Saturday is Sabado, the Sabbath. Those who do observe the Sabbath on Saturday, usually do so from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown as, according to the Jewish reckoning of time, each day begins at sundown (not midnight like we do in our western culture)”

Here’s a little fun fact: the piñata was originally associated with Christmas! From a website on the origins of the piñata, we read,

The piñata's history in Mexico dates back to the same time as the Christmas Posadas in Acolman de Nezahualcoyotl, in the present state of Mexico, near the archaeological site of Teotihuacan. In 1586 the Augustinian friars in Acolman received authorization from Pope Sixtus V to hold what were called "misas de aguinaldo" (special masses that took place before Christmas) which later became the posadas. It was at these masses that were held in the days leading up to Christmas that the friars introduced the piñata. They used the piñata as an allegory to help them in their efforts to evangelize the native people of the region and teach them about the principles of Christianity.

The original piñata was shaped like a star with seven points. The points represented the seven deadly sins (lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride) and the bright colors of the piñata symbolize the temptation to fall into these sins. The blindfold represents faith and the stick is virtue or the will to overcome sin. The candies and other goodies inside the piñata are the riches of the kingdom of heaven, that the virtuous who are able to overcome sin will receive. The whole exercise is meant to teach that with faith and virtue one can overcome sin and receive all the rewards of heaven.

Now for some things that are not so “fun,” although they are important to know! Contrary to popular belief, pagans were/are extremely religious. When you think of the term “pagan” it doesn’t mean someone who is agnostic. Although they don’t know the True God, they are still deeply religious and may appear to be outwardly devout. And so it is with Satan. Satan loves religion! That’s why he is in every church, trying to pervert the truth! Paul says that “Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds” (2Cor 11:14-15, NASB, underline mine). Who are the “servants of Satan?” They are in virtually every church, synagogue and mosque around the world, spreading falseness and half-truths to the masses. This is how I know that the masses are not saved. They are blinded by the Satan himself!

Let’s look at some supposed “Christian” holidays:

Easter

Ah, Easter. On this day, we celebrate the rising of Jesus Christ from the dead. So, why is it called “Easter”? Well, it all goes back to pagan worship. Think about it. What does the “Easter bunny,” chocolate and colorful eggs have to do with anything? Is it just a fun activity for the kids because they have nothing else better to do? It involves paganism – specifically fertility cults – dating back thousands of years. The term “Easter” likely comes from Ishtar or Ēostre. Let’s read about her,

Spring Goddess of Fertility and bouncy bunny girl

She has her own festival on 21 March, the Spring Equinox, in which bouncing springy behavior is encouraged.

A Germanic goddess, Eostre was very popular with the Anglo-Saxon pagan brigade who worshiped her under the name — and kicked off the whole Easter business without a Jesus in sight. If you ever wondered what eggs and bunnies have to do with crucifixion and resurrection, the answer is: absolutely nothing.

Eostre’s sacred animal is a cute wittle wabbit — an obvious symbol of fertility — and the egg is her symbol of fertile purity”

Oh, and Jesus did not die on “Good Friday.” Let’s logically think this through. The Bible says that He had already been resurrected on the “first day,” which would be on a Sunday (Mt 28:1, Mk 16:1-2, Lk 24:1, Jn 20:1). That means that, if He was buried on Friday, using simple arithmetic, we can safely say that this window of time is not enough for Him to be in the tomb for three days and three nights. More likely is it that Yeshua (Jesus) was arrested, tried, flogged, and crucified sometime around the middle of the week, not at the end of the week.

The ancient Hebrews used a lunar calendar. They didn’t have a concept of midnight like we do in the modern world, as they didn’t have clocks. So, how did they mark the passage of time? It tells us in the beginning of Genesis. In Gen 1:5, it says, “God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day (NASB, underline mine). So, people in ancient times relied on celestial bodies to tell time. We kind of do the same today. We estimate how much time is left in the day by watching the sun. To them, they marked a day as “over” when the sun went down, and the moon came up. Note that in the book of Genesis, that was the way Elohim arranged the sequence of events – “there was evening and (then) there was morning (or day).”

Knowing this, we can now figure out the actual day in which our Lord was sacrificed. Working back from the Sabbath, we have three days and nights. Using a chart that I had to borrow, we can see that He was probably crucified on a Wednesday, not a Friday.

Why all the deception that continues even to this day? Many early converts to the Catholic Church, especially under Emperor Constantine, were forced to convert. In order to more easily convert the masses, sad as it may be, they adopted these pagan ideas into the faith. More on this “Ishtar” later on.

Christmas

Christmas is the “happiest time of the year.” On this day, we celebrate the birth of our Lord. Then, why does this day fall on the 25th of December? It’s apparent from the Gospels that Jesus was not born in the dead of winter. What does Santa Claus have to do with Christmas?? Well, it all goes back to paganism. Think about it. What does the “yule log,” mistletoe, hot chocolate, and of course, good ol’ Saint Nick have to do with this holiday? Nothing. It’s all based on a deception. These things are based on Norse, Germanic, Druidic, and other people’s traditions that have nothing to do with Jesus. You remember Ishtar? I told you that I would get back around to her. Ishtar, who has been called the “Virgin Mother” or Madonna, is the “Queen of Heaven.” She “in Mesopotamian religion, is the goddess of war and sexual love2.”

Ishtar’s lover/husband was a man named Nimrod, and was found briefly in the book of Genesis, but could also be found in greater detail in the apocryphal book of Jasher. His followers deified him and made him out to be the “sun-god,” whom the Israelites called Baal or Molech. Well, this “Ishtar” was Nimrod’s mother/wife (something incestuous going on there, apparently). This website has more to say on the matter,

Satan’s church had its beginning at Babylon with the construction of the Tower of Babel on the plain of Shinar by the River Euphrates many generations after the deluge. At the time of the construction of Babylon at the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-4), mankind had multiplied and spoken one language. Cush who was the son of Ham and grandson of Noah (Genesis 10:1, 6), helped to plan with his son Nimrod, a blueprint by which to rule the world of humanity through a wicked counterfeit religion. Nimrod was the originator of sun worship and founder of Babylon. A Bible translation called the Targum says, “Nimrod became a mighty man of sin, a murderer of innocent men, and a rebel before the Lord.”

The beginning of Nimrod’s evil plan had its origin at Babel which was later known as Babylon. This city of Babylon with a tower “whose top may reach unto heaven” was built by Nimrod (Genesis 10:8-10; 11:4). Tower of Babel. They called the tower “Babel, the gate to heaven,” but God called it what it was which was, “Babel, confusion,” for there God confused the language of the people which forced them to scatter. This heaven defying group of people wanted one government to rule the world and one religion to sway the hearts of mankind. This was Satan’s attempt to defy God and His authority and the ring leader of his scheme was Nimrod. But God came down and stopped this world wide rebellion at Babel, in defiance of His command for mankind to replenish the earth (Genesis 9:1) by confusing their language into many languages so they could not understand one another’s speech. Mankind discontinued the building of Babel and were scattered to different parts of the world (Genesis 11:8-9).”

This other website continues this story, with Nimrod’s demise:

Nimrod, the King, took a wife.  The wife Nimrod chose was his mother.  So the “son” became both the husband and son of the mother.  In effect making this marriage a “trinity” union in as much as the “husband” was the same person as the “son” united as “one” with the wife/mother.  So Nimrod married his mother, Semiramis, and she became the Queen of Babylon.  It was Semiramis from which the religion surrounding Nimrod and the planets (astrology) evolved.  Nimrod the mighty and ruthless murderer was killed for his crimes against humanity by the sons of Noah.  His body cut into pieces and distributed all over his kingdom by his enemies.  In the face of Nimrod’s death, Semiramis had to somehow maintain her grip and power over the people.  In order to solidify her power she “invented” a religion for the people that would keep Nimrod’s control over them even after his death…The Babylonian Empire was the first attempt at a “One World Government” or “New World Order”.  This human attempt at global governance through the use of “dark knowledge”, astrology, and pagan god worship was an abomination to YHVH.  The Tower of Babel was a tower built not to “reach up to YHVH” but rather as a massive structure from which to consult the stars through the use of astrology and communicate with “The Sun” Baal.  YHVH intervened and confused the speech of the people of earth and scattered them abroad.   With the migration of the people coming out of Babylon, the sun-worshipping religion of Babylon was scattered throughout the Earth, the names changed but the religion remained the same.”

Essentially, when Nimrod died, Ishtar wanted to stay in power, and she claimed that Nimrod “lived on above in the clouds,” and he became the “sun-god.” Not only that, but she claimed that she was impregnated by him, a type of “virgin birth,” if you will. Got to say, Satan is a crafty one – making a man-made religion that attempts to mimic and mock the true God! She said that no man had slept with her, but that she was “with child,” and that she had conceived. She claimed to be the “mother of god,” thus elevating her status to that of a deity. Do you see the connection between her and the Catholic’s view of the Virgin Mary? I hope so, because that is exactly where it came from. This is where the “Trinity” originated from, too.

Anyway, so Ishtar, also named Semiramis, bore a son from the “divine conception” and named him Tammuz. She claimed that this was the re-incarnation of Nimrod, and that he was born at the time of the winter solstice. His “birthday” was celebrated on December 25th. Does that date ring a bell..? Tammuz was later killed by a wild boar, but that didn’t stop Ishtar and her followers from deifying her further. She became known as the pagan “fertility goddess,” and “Easter” was originally celebrated with a sex orgy! The conception of Tammuz, not the birth, was celebrated after the first Sunday after the full moon that followed the Spring equinox3.

Women in Babylon were required to participate in this pagan celebration, which meant laying down in the temple of Ishtar, and were forced to have sex with whoever entered! Of course, along with the temples, statues were built that represented these pagan gods. Babies were sacrificed to Molech, using the idol statues, with the worshippers there drinking the blood of the innocent! If that wasn’t bad enough, they would take eggs and dye them with the blood of these sacrificed infants!! This was mass infanticide! It’s what’s happening now with these Satanic “abortion” laws that say you can kill your own child, consequence-free, if the child is under the age of 2! Truly, what a wicked age we live in! Those “Easter babies,” by the way, would be born nine months later at, wait for it…December 25th! The website also says,

This religion created in Babylon by Nimrod and Semiramis was making them rich as the people had to pay money to come into the temple to sacrifice their babies at the Winter Solstice (December 21st-25th) and also at “Easter (Ishtar) Sunrise Services,” at the spring or Vernal Equinox (March 21st-25th).  Every year on March 25th & December 25th, there would be wild drunken parties and orgies where virgins were impregnated by pagan priests. Since there are 9 months to a pregnancy, and there are also 9 months between March 25th and December 25th, the pagan priests of Ba’al would impregnate these virgins on Easter Sunday.  This was done to commemorate the impregnation of Semiramis with Tammuz, and then by December 25th when these infants were newly born, they would then offer up these new born babies on the altar to “Moloch” (Nimrod) on December 25th.  A few months later on Easter “Sun-day” they would offer up more infants to the goddess named “Easter” or “Ishtar” the moon goddess Semiramis.  They would then take the blood of these sacrificed infants and dip “eggs” in them called Ishtar Eggs.”

Supposedly, Tammuz lived for 40 years when he was killed in an accident by a wild boar. Do you know what sprung up as a way to commemorate his life? A 40-day long no-meat “fast.” Does this sound familiar? That’s right! The Roman Catholic tradition of “Lent” got its origins from this pagan tradition. Each year, they would form an “Ankh,” a pagan symbol similar to a cross, over their hearts. Each year, because they couldn’t enjoy the rich taste of meat, they would bake and eat these “hot cross buns,” which was bread baked with “a cross” shaped over it. Remember what I said about new “Christian” converts bringing in their old pagan ideas into the Church? Ishtar also said that, because Tammuz was killed by a pig, that a pig must be eaten on “Eostre Sun-day.” This is how we got the tradition of eating ham at Easter.

The problems didn’t start with the Catholic Church – they only adopted these man-made traditions from man-made false-religions! Ancient Israel was told over and over again not to fall into pagan worship. But we find in places like Jeremiah, that they did not heed the Lord’s instructions.

Do you not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to other gods in order to spite Me” (Jer 7:17-18, NASB, underline mine).

This is not the only time in the OT that the “queen of heaven” is mentioned. Israelites fell into this deadly trap, over and over, of offering up “cakes” in worship to this pagan goddess. She is known by another name: Ashteroth. She is the “whore of Babylon” mentioned in Revelation 17!

As for our own country, the United States, we are not blameless, either. Not by a long shot. The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of America. The Masons in France gave “her” as a gift of goodwill in the 1880’s. Do you know “who” is “Lady Liberty?” Yeah, it’s Ishtar. But, more than that, it’s Lucifer Himself. Notice that she holds a torch held high in her hand. She is the “light-bearer,” just like Lucifer is also the bearer of light. Our country’s capitol, is Washington, DC, which stands for the District of Columbia (Columbia or Libertas, which is another name and another manifestation of the false-goddess Ishtar), situated in between Virgin-ia and Mary-land – “Virgin-Mary.” Yeah, I was shocked when I saw this, too. A symbol of Nimrod is an obelisk. An obelisk is basically a phallic symbol. It is meant to represent a male’s private organ. We have one such occult object in our nation’s capitol – the Washington Monument. But, it’s also found in places all over the world, including in the center of St Peter’s Square at the Vatican, with occult, pagan depictions all around it. We have occult, Satanic symbols around us, some of it making us “feel” good, but we must remember that in this age, Satan is the “god” of this world. May You come soon, Lord Jesus! We await anxiously for your Kingdom to come!
